Roof completed - time for 1 week vacation / Dach skończony, więc panowie jadą na urlop

The roof is fully covered by now, and Mr Jacek is taking a week of vacation. He will have a busy time when he comes back, having only 2 months to get ready for the heating machines to be installed.
We are taking the opportunity too and are going for a long weekend next week.

Panowie (prawie) skończyli dach, i jadą na tygodniowy urlop. Jak wrócą, mają 2 miesiące na dokończenie ścian, podłóg i stropów, a potem wchodzi pan Tomek z instalacją grzewczą.
Postanowiliśmy skorzystać z okazji i też jedziemy na przedłużony weekend :-).

Inside, preparation for the cellulose isolation and the second layer of wood is on-going. Looks a bit like shelves in a hypermarket. / Na piętrze teren jest przygotowywany do kładzenia wełny celulozowej i drugiej warstwy desek. Wygląda trochę jak półki sklepowe (puste, jak za komuny... nawet octu nie ma!).

More of the roof / Dach już prawie przykryty

This time the progress is only visible from a distance. About 70% of the transparent part of the roof is already completed, with a plan to finish all of it on Monday. / Panowie jadą do przodu z poliwęglanem, ułożyli już ze 3/4 (więcej akurat z drugiej strony). Wygląda... intrygująco.

...and inside, there is not much space to move and it's pretty hot too. When completed, this area will heat to 80 degrees Celsius (176 F) during a sunny day. / W środku za to jest ciasno i ciepło. Docelowo temperatura ma dochodzić do 80 stopni.

And finally I climbed up to the first floor myself. Actually getting there was peanuts - going back down was quite a challenge. Especially if you're afraid of heights like me, and the "ladder" is anything but stable. / W sobotę po raz pierwszy "własnonożnie" wspięłam się na poddasze i bardzo żałowałam tej decyzji. Wejście na górę po za krótkiej, chwiejącej się drabinie było niczym w porównaniu ze schodzeniem po bujającym się rusztowaniu. Zwłaszcza jeżeli ma się lęk wysokości.

The ground floor walls were decorated with these metal widgets. Next step is to add a piece of wood inside and construct "shelves" between which there will go a layer of heat isolation made of... well... scrap paper ;-) (wait till early August to see more!). / Ściany parteru zostały "ozdobione" takimi oto metalowymi gadżetami, między które zostanie wsadzony drewniany klocek, a na nim ułożone będą półeczki. To wszystko ma wspomóc ułożenie kolejnej warstwy ścian, a mianowicie izolacji cieplnej z... makulatury :-).

Separately, we have completed negotiations of one of our two next big contracts (for the heating system), while the other one (windows) is still in progress. We have 3 very comparable offers to choose from, and making a decision is not easy at all. For now, we're trying to make them lower prices :-). / W międzyczasie walczymy z umowami, jedna już właściwie podpisana, pozostał tylko kontrakt na okna. A tu trzeba podjąć trudną decyzję między trzema bardzo podobnymi ofertami. Na razie walczymy o rabaty cenowe, ale nie można tego za bardzo przeciągać, bo czas leci...

Roof in progress / Dach się dalej robi

The roof is moving forward and the 2nd layer of the wooden walls is almost complete by now. We're on track to cover the transparent part of the roof before Mr Jacek goes on vacation in a week from now.
Minor issues continue to appear on a daily basis, but there is no more crisis so far.
Next wave of shopping is in progress: this week we should close the deal for the heating/cooling installation, and then the one for the windows. I'd love to have that completed, as price negotiations is not what I really like doing.

Panowie dalej pracują nad dachem i planują zakończenie większości prac (włącznie z poliwęglanem) do połowy przyszłego tygodnia, kiedy to idą na tygodniowy urlop. W międzyczasie przykryli większość ścian płytą OSB. Na szczęście, wszystko idzie w miarę zgodnie z planem, i nie ma większych problemów (są za to tysiące mniejszych ;-)).
My tymczasem negocjujemy kolejne "milionowe kontrakty", na ogrzewanie i okna.

The neighbours have constructed a fence. I wish it was a little less fancy. / Sąsiedzi postawili większą część ogrodzenia. Tylko po co te ozdobniki :-/.

Roof tiles are coming / Dachówki się kładą

Braas Tegalit roof tiles are already covering majority of the roof and I absolutely love how they look (not like tiles at all :-)). No wonder they were so damn expensive. This week the guys will continue with the tiles and the transparent part of the roof.
The window holes are fixed now and the first layer of wooden wall is more or less complete.
As for the purchasing, we are now ordering the pellet stove (MCZ Ego - beautiful!), and slowly closing negotiations for the windows. Both need to be delivered in September, so it's high time.

Około połowy dachu ma już ułożone przepiękne dachówki Braas Tegalit, w których jestem po prostu zakochana :-), mimo ich kosmicznej ceny. W tym tygodniu, poza cd. dachówek, panowie powinni ruszyć z poliwęglanem, aby dach stał się kompletny. W międzyczasie poprawili otwory okienne (tak by były na właściwym miejscu), i pierwsza warstwa ściany jest właściwie zakończona.
W międzyczasie szalejemy z zakupami - za chwilę zamówimy kominek na pellety (padło na przepiękny MCZ Ego), no i okna - jak tylko uda się wybrać ostatecznego dostawcę.

A curiosity: we are building another well - this time a shallow one - for the "natural air conditioning" system. Surprisingly, the way you build it is to start from the top and dig a hole. As you continue digging, the heavy concrete circles are moving down so you can put more of them on top. What adds to the complexity is that starting from 2 m of depth, you are actually digging in the water (total depth will be 4 m so that's pretty challenging...).

Z serii: ciekawostki budowlane. Kopiemy drugą, płytką studnię na potrzeby "naturalnej klimatyzacji". Bardzo ciekawe jest, jak to się robi. Otóż układa się na sobie betonowe kręgi i podkopuje ziemię pod nimi, tak że stopniowo pod ciężarem kręgi opadają w dół. Osoba kopiąca stoi w środku studni, a dodatkowym utrudnieniem jest fakt, że od 2 m w studni jest już woda, a docelowa głębokość studni to 4 m ;-).

Another week has passed, and the house half of the area of the roof already covered and ready to put roof tiles on. The other half remains open for now, as we are waiting for delivery of polycarbonate (Marlon ST) sheets.
In parallel, the guys have almost completed the first layer of wooden walls, and it really starts to feel like a "house". Still, two of the window holes are not really in the correct places ;-).

Minął kolejny tydzień, no i dom ma już pół dachu i większość ścian :-). W przyszłym tygodniu rozpoczynamy kładzenie dachówek, a środkowa część dachu czeka na dostawę płyt z poliwęglanu komorowego.
Generalnie wszystko zmierza w dobrym kierunku, niech no tylko Panowie poprawią te dwa otwory okienne, co to je zrobili nie całkiem w tym miejscu ;-).
